Multi-chip Heat Sink

In this application, there were multiple chips at varying heights requiring a heat sink.  By molding CoolPoly D8102 thermally conductive TPE to the base of this heat sink (CoolPoly E5101 thermally conductive PPS), we were able to maintain uniform contact and significantly reduce thermal resistance.

 

Attachment clips were molded directly into the heat sink, eliminating secondary operations.

 

Overall, there was a 30% cost savings in this application as compared to an equivalent aluminum design.

Over-molded Heat Pipe

In this application, we were able to best utilize the space available using a heat pipe over molded with CoolPoly E5101 thermally conductive PPS.

 

We were able to mold in standoffs and attachment features, lowering cost and exceeding thermal management requirements.
